I fell in love with my Thai girlfriend and visited her in Pattaya on 3 separate occasions. Finally I made the decision to sell up in the UK, selling everything that I had ever owned. Then sending the money to my Thai bank account and following shortly after on a one way flight with Thai airways.

Arriving in Thailand with nowhere to live, getting bored of hotel life, My Thai girlfriend as they all do convinced me to buy a small home which was put in her name. I now know this was a mistake, but at the time because of my love for my Thai girlfriend I could not help myself.

We moved into the house together and made it a place to be called home. The first year was fantastic, my new lover took care of me and I loved her more than my own life.

8 months into my life, we went to visit my Thai girlfriends family in the village. This was a real shock to me. I had never seen before people living in such poverty. To be honest I felt ashamed that I had life so good, yet my girlfriends family were living in extreme poverty.

Without encouragement, I single handedly made the decision to tear down the family shack in the village and build a new house with running water and electric. I had committed to paying for all of the building work. The new home was to be built big enough to fit the family including

• Mum and Dad
• 3 Sisters
• 3 Brothers.

Thai Brother

The house had been completed and we were back in our honeymoon love nest in Pattaya. My girlfriend asked if her Thai brother could move down with us in Pattaya, giving him some where to stay until he found full time work, then he would find a place of his own.

I had previously met her brother while in the village. He was a polite and gentle man, therefore I had no worries or concerns about helping him and his family out. Actually I thought him coming to Pattaya to get work would remove some of the burden from my girlfriend; she was the only person that was able to support the family.

Thai Brother Moved to Pattaya

With my total agreement he moved to Pattaya and into our home. He arrived and we settled him in and my Thai girlfriend took him around Pattaya to find work which for some reason he was finding difficult. I found this strange as it seems there is always a lot of work available in Pattaya.

The trips out to find work slowed down until I found myself sharing a house with my Thai girlfriend and her Thai brother. On a daily basis he was sat in my home doing nothing but watching Thai TV and drinking my beer. Eventually this got me down, so I mentioned it politely to my Thai girlfriend. I was shocked as she defended him to the hilt saying he was trying his best.

During this time our relationship seemed to start to die. Everywhere we traveled, shops, beach, bars etc the Thai brother had to come with us which I found very strange. I was unhappy with it but tried my best to accepted it.

More and more my Thai girlfriend would sit and drink with her brother until it became every night. There they say on my the balcony of my dream home drinking and speaking Thai while I sat inside isolated, becoming a prisoner in my own home.

Pattaya has some of the best golf courses in the world. In the UK I could not afford to play on such high quality courses. To beat the boredom I played golf about three times every week. Setting off early in the morning to try to beat the midday heat and arriving home early evening.

On one day I realised on the way to the golf course that I had forgot my golf shoes. Unlike the UK some courses you cannot play without the correct clothing, so I changed direction and headed home to collect them.

On arriving home, I was surprised to see my girlfriends car still on the drive. Normally she sets off to work at 9am. I entered the house to hear my girlfriend having what sounded like sex. I couldn’t make sense of the situation, my mind was racing at 100 miles an hour while walking to the bedroom, who could possibly be in there with her ?

I opened the bedroom door, with the sight before me I physically felt sick, and there was the apple of my eye banging away with her brother. Yes she was sleeping with her Thai brother.

“What is going on” I shouted, “ you are sick, you are sleeping with your Brother? Your brother? What type of family are you?”

The look of shock on their face was nothing to the look of disgust on mine. My thai girlfriend jumped off the bed holding the sheet around her leaving her brothers named body exposed.

“You don’t understand” she said, “Its not what you think”

Not to bore you with the complete shouting argument that we had, but the brother finally shouted

“She not my sister, she my wife” followed by “She not love you, she only want your money, now you must leave”

I couldn’t believe it, he was telling me to get out of my own house.

The Thai Brother was infact the Thai Husband

I had purchased two houses, one for the Thai family and one for us. The mistake I had made was that I had put the house into My thai girlfriends name, so infact it was her house. The same was for the two cars. I went to the police to complain, they asked whos name are the houses and cars in, as I replied I realized that I had really messed up.

I am still in Pattaya, but now renting a cheap room and riding a motor bike, with most of my savings gone. I am now forced to live off my pension, but I will never be able to afford a nice house or car again. I feel real stupid.

My advice to anyone out there, if you are buying a house or car in Pattaya you can buy it in your own name. Well the house I think has to be in a company name..

There are some real relationships here in Thailand between Thai ladies and expats, but not all that glitters is gold, as I found out.

A Thai brother may not be a brother, but a husband, and a Thai girlfriend maybe somebody else’s wife. A houses in somebody elses name is there house.

Like every consumer you want to pay as little as possible for any service or product, we are all the same in this respect. When you are looking for a visa company in Thailand to arrange a UK visa for your Thai spouse, never pay any money upfront, not even the visa fee. After you pay the fee and start to give your documents they will ask for more money for Translations, for the application, copies, phone calls etc. You will send the extra money of 5,000 or 10,000 baht with promises from the Thai visa company that no more money will be needed, but it will.

You may find that you have paid extra money from the starting price of 10,000 baht and have now paid in total 50,000 baht; however the visa has not even been applied for.

He did get the visa, however if he would have dealt with a company that asks for no money until the visa has been issued he could have paid a fraction of this price and received the visa months prior.

When dealing with a Thailand visa company

When dealing with a Thailand visa company and you are looking for a UK visa, do not pay any money upfront, after all you do not have to as there are good companies that will offer their visa services without the need of payment until you have been awarded the visa. A fool and their money are easily parted. When in Thailand don’t fall for a trick you would not fall for at home.

I would like to tell you my story which I hope does not happen to any other foreigners out there. I have been in a relationship with my Thai girlfriend for 3 years and over that period of time I have been conned into buying my Thai girlfriend 10 baht in Thai gold with an estimated value of 140,000 Thai baht. The gold was purchased as a gift for birthdays and Christmas presents

Anyway during our relationship I bought my Thai girlfriend land in her small village in Thailand and helped her build a house. I did all of this because I loved her and at the time could afford to. Ii know what you are all thinking, but believe me I have read all the books and read the Internet blogs. It was not long after that I found out she had a Thai boyfriend and we decided to split which was heart breaking for me after a 3 year relationship. My dreams were completely shattered.

Given my Thai girlfriend money

Over the three years I had spent a lot of money on the land and building the new home. I also had given my Thai girlfriend money on a monthly basis to help support her and her family. When we broke up my ex Thai girlfriend offered me back the gold which I had given to her as a present. She said that she wanted me to have some of my money back. Feeling let down I gladly took back the gold, let me make this straight, I did not ask for it, she offered and I accepted. The plan was to sell the gold and recuperate some of my losses. She gave me back the gold and we parted company for the last time.

The following day I was in Pattaya and decided to go to the nearest gold shop and sell the gold, get some money back and go out to party, but to my horror the gold she had give me was perfect fake gold and identical to the gold that I had bought for her.

Unfortunate for me I could not explain the story what had happened, the gold shop owner thought I was trying to con him so called the local Police. My day got worse, when the Police arrived at the gold shop they took me to the police station on Soi 9 Pattaya. The police kept me in the cells for nearly 12 hours, during several interviews they informed me that they would charge me for trying to sell fake gold. I gave them my ex girlfriend telephone number, but she would not answer the phone. So there I was stuck in a police cell in Pattaya.

The Police officers were very nice to me and finally understood that I was not to blame for this matter. They explained that I should be careful taking gold from an ex girlfriend because there are a number of copy gold sales people on street corners that cater for exact gold copies.

I am a business man and not stupid but I can tell you that you cannot tell the difference between the original gold and the fake copies. If you split with your Thai girlfriend, let her sell the gold and then give you the money or take something else instead because it was a horrifying experience and could easily happen to anyone.

I have lived a rather strange existence of late, a platonic ménage’ au trois that was both frustrating, in a cold shower sort of way, and yet at the same time very interesting. Sound strange? It sure was!

You see, with the full consent of my wife, I had a Go-go dancer move in for 2 very sensual and mind blowing weeks. In between cleaning the apartment’s tiles with my lolling tongue, I also had the opportunity to have many frank conversations with GG Girl (Gigi sounds good, let’s call her that) who isn’t the least bit coy about who she is and what she does to earn her pound of flesh (pun intended). It’s given me invaluable insight into her life, lack of ambition and the opinion many like her hold of the general male populace here in town. To recap slightly…..

When my wife asked me if it would be OK for a friend to spend two weeks with us while she waited for her own place to become available, I hesitated. Knowing how certain family and friends have the propensity to firmly entrench themselves like parasitic plants given the chance, I did not want to run the risk of ultimately being the ‘bad Farang’ when having to forcibly evict the squatters. The words, ‘she’s very pretty’, however swayed my decision and shortly thereafter, Gigi arrived on our doorstep. I wasn’t to be disappointed!

She works at a well known go-go bar and judging by the amount of mid morning arrivals back ‘home’, she seems to be very popular! A strange thing about her is that she is very religious, and soon every nook and cranny of my apartment had some deity, complete with floral garlands and smoking incense, staring sternly at me. I counted 35, and according to Gigi, this is but a small part of her collection. Every morning an elaborate ritual played itself out as her and wife (now also caught in a fervor of rapture) make offerings of whisky, fanta, cigarettes, fruit and the USS Nimitz. OK, the aircraft carrier is a bit of an exaggeration, but the rest cost a small fortune every day. Although I am a real admirer of the true Buddhist faith, when I saw several deities being duplicated I politely queried them and was met with icy stares. More is luckier they declared coolly!

Once the smog from all the joss sticks has cleared, Gigi now assumes the lotus position and undertakes a strenuous one hour meditation session. What goes through her mind and what she tries to atone for is anyone’s guess. Then follows a phone call from her ‘favorite’ boyfriend in Germany who daily wants to know if she is being faithful. Gigi, to her credit and canniness, is very straightforward. “Send me money every month and I stop working”, she tells him. I know as well as she does that this will never happen. Nevertheless, in spite of earning only a small civil service salary and having to save for a major operation, he sends what he can. This is normally blown in a few hours redeeming items she has already pawned, and which will be re-pawned a few days later.

The male ego dictates that we all consider ourselves damn fine lovers who are able to make even the most street hardened hooker cry out in delight. I asked Gigi if any man actually stood out among the rest in her memory. She took a long time thinking this over and eventually conceded that one, an Australian, did. Visions of a cross between Valentino and Mel Gibson came to mind, but it turned out that she only remembered him because he had a funny face? No customer has ever brought her to orgasm. Male, female or a combination of both. She is open to any sexual orientation. When I asked if she enjoyed ‘le petit mort’, the big ‘O’, she shrugged her shoulders and said she got more mental and physical pleasure from her religion. A former sponsor once jokingly offered to buy her a newspaper to read while he got his money’s worth. Her main and only ambition in life is …..Yes, you guessed it, Money! She doesn’t care whose feelings she hurts or whose emotions she tramples on in her pursuit of it. ‘I show you how easy to get money from Farang,’ she said one morning as we were discussing matters fiscal. An hour later, ten thousand Baht was gleefully winging its way over on the Western Union jet stream. Gigi nonchalantly awaited its arrival while playing a computer game. ‘Do you ever pay them back?’ I asked. ‘Sometimes,’ she replied, ‘If they come on holiday and remind me I owe them money, then I will go one or two times for free. After that, they pay again!’

What does she think of the average Farang she meets on a nightly basis? Not much, they are there to pay my rent. Most are boring and we learn to say the things they want to hear. If they smile, we smile. When they cry, we hug them to make them feel better, but all the time think they are weak. Some are fun and I will go with them for cheaper, but never for free. Some will pay whatever I ask. Women are nice sometimes.

In the short time I have known her, Gigi has repeatedly stated that she wants to get a proper job and get out of the sex scene. These attempts only last a day or two and then she naturally just gets sucked back into the wormhole that is the bar scene. Why? She holds the common Thai belief that she does not have the correct school papers that all employers ‘insist’ on. I personally believe that this is just a poor excuse to avoid actual physical work and justify what they do. Papers maketh not the person! Yet in spite of all I’ve said so far, I still genuinely like Gigi. After a successful sortie she inevitably came home with a chocolate or ice cream for me and did her fair share of the housework. She also refused the offer of a bed and preferred to sleep on the floor. Cream time was my favorite part of the day as Gigi, fresh from the shower and clad in only a skimpy pair of shorts and thin T shirt sans bra, would openly rub various creams and lotions all over her body. A sly smile would indicate that she knew I was devouring the scene and she would stretch out the torture as long as possible. It was a tough time, but someone had to do it!

Strangely enough though, although being fantasy fodder, I was not besotted with Gigi to do something stupid and even having numerous nights alone when the wife was away, nothing happened. This interestingly may have been a bit of a turn on for her, if that was possible, because she often asked me to massage a stiff calf muscle or wanted my opinion on certain items of clothing she paraded in front of me. I would be a liar if I say that certain lewd thoughts did not cross my mind. The main stumbling block was that I knew what Gigi was about and that I would merely be another smoking cartridge expelled and expended from her arsenal of lovers. I was not vain or arrogant enough to believe that I could bring her to an earth shattering climax that would indebt her to be my love slave forever. Personally I am still from the old school that prefers a bit of cuddling and emotional attachment in preference to just plain carnal sex. however good it may be.

One of my questions caught her off guard for a moment, but because I had experienced the effect personally in one of the bars she had worked at before, I needed to know the truth. Ever entered an establishment feeling totally sober, yet after only one or two beers you are wasted, disorientated and an easy mark? I asked Gigi if the girls had any tricks up their sleeves (well, bikinis would be a better choice of attire in a go-go) for gaining the upper hand with punters and / or drunks. She gave me a naughty smile and said “some girls” are known to drop the contraceptive pill or eye drops into client’s drinks and others have some ‘medicine’ that they rub onto their breasts which induces an early nights slumber for their kindly host of the night. Most reputable establishments don’t tolerate this, and it’s mainly the freelancer element. Although she did not know the name of the latter mentioned ‘medicine’, she knew where to get it.

Gigi left us after her allotted time and I was in a sense sad to see her go, yet also relieved, as things could have become a bit too much to ignore and then my Alpha male syndrome would have taken over. One day she walked into the apartment as if she had never left, and straight away I noticed that she had indeed kept to the promise of losing a few kilos and she looked good, very good! The bra was once again absent, which for any Thai woman is a big No No in public. I stared blatantly and made a comment about the chilly weather. She smiled knowingly. I asked about her favorite German man, but she merely waved the question away. ‘Oh him, not hear for a long time. He have operation and maybe die. No problem, I meet man from Holland now and he take care for me. I think we buy bar soon.’

Well Gigi my dear, it’s your life. Enjoy the moment, because that is all it is, a brief passage of time that is over in the blink of an eye. You are a professional sportsperson in your own right and your sell by date draws ever nearer.

Chok Dee

Every man with visiting Thailand will have heard many Thai girlfriend scams. We have all sat in a Beer bar in either Bangkok or Pattaya and laughed at some of the stories men hear from their Thai girlfriends and ingenious ways of extorting the maximum amount of money from him.

Even after we have heard the Thai girlfriends scam 100 times will still fall for it, not believing that it could happen to us.

Here is a list of some of the scams that are run every day.

Thai pregnancy scam

As soon as the western returns home, within a few weeks he will get the call to say she is pregnant with his baby. The story continues with she loves him wants to keep the baby. The scam begins with problems and difficulties with the pregnancy; urgent money is needed for the doctor. Extra stress is placed on the scam with the Thai girlfriend explaining that the baby might die. After the western man sends money to her for the medical bills, she will then call him crying telling him that the unborn baby has died.

Thai Mama sick scam

This story is exactly the same as above, calling her boyfriend in the west telling him that her mama is sick and she is real worried. This type of scam will demand a little more money maybe $5000 – $10,000 dollars. After the money is paid the Thai girl will report that the mama is now in hospital and getting the much needed treatment. Within a week the story will continue that the mama is well, at home and recovering.

Thai Dad Crash truck scam

This scam revolves around the dads truck or car and can be a costly scam. The Thai girlfriend calls telling her boyfriend (back in the west) that her father has crashed the car and it is a write off, the father is ok but not able to work until the car-truck is repaired.

The next day the girlfriend calls again explaining that the insurance will pay for the car to be repaired but it will take two months for the repair and that dad is worried about his job and income.

The next day there is another call, this time asking the boyfriend to buy a second hand car or truck for dad for 300,000 Baht and at the end of the month when the original car-truck is repaired, it will be sold and your money will be returned. After the money has been paid out, you will then learn that the repair garage cannot finish the car and it cannot be sold. This is one of the more expensive Thai girlfriend scams.

Buying a condo.

Any man arranging to buy a condo or home in Thailand, if he goes to the land office with the Thai girlfriend she will ask the land officer to place the land or condo in her name. When you explain that you would like it in your own name the land officer will tell you that you cannot.

If the Thai girlfriend gets the condo in her name, but you keep her well with money etc, you may not have a problem. As soon as you have any problems with money she will ask you to leave the condo telling you that it is hers. This happens every day in Thailand
